My
name is Grisha Manikatov, and I was born in the town of Sandanski, which,
although small, is not entirely unknown, thanks to its wineries and mineral
springs. As a high school student I began to discover not only some of the
above-mentioned delights of Sandanski, but also the music of Metallica,
which led to the beginning of my “musical” career in a garage (on drums), to
my neighbors’ chagrin, as you can imagine. Along with my study of the German
language, I also began taking lessons on guitar, which took my hobby to a
more serious level. My first performances before the public were not quite
what I had expected, since I was playing guitar; this, however, was not a
stumbling block to the success of the concerts. I then moved to Sofia to
continue my education, as well as my drumming, as it turns out, since I was
able to play with various groups and finally appear on stage behind a drum
set. In the meantime, I got my degree in engineering and visited America
(where I survived a hurricane with the deceptively sweet name of Isabel).
After graduating, I have installed the wiring in a fair number of megastores
in Sofia and around the country, a job that would have seriously curtailed
my musical activities if I had not joined Gologan in 2006.
That’s it for now (well, except that I may be finally getting my master’s
degree one of these days…)
